MAGIC
Or, my current three favorite things that you should definitely know about.
the first forty days
in countless cultures, birthing people have been instructed to stay inside, and by their bed for the first month postpartum, to foster a close relationship with the baby and to let your body REST. the book takes us through the cultural significance and history of "the fourth trimester", AND gives us fabulous recipes to eat, drink and enjoy for that first month (which btw, your partner, or better yet, friends or family should make for you). GET IT.
babywearing
did you know that babies that are carried cry less? and that carrying helps you bond with your baby faster, learning their cues and movements, which will in turn help you feel more comfortable and confident.
what better way to carry your child than strapped to you, with your hands free to do other things. like eat that chocolate, or watermelon, or drink that gallon of water you will be craving.
babywearing is for everyone! parents, partners, grandparents, friends, babysitters etc etc. it's just so freakin' useful.
baby book
remember when baby books were a thing? and when printing your photos were a thing? well, i think we should go back to that whole thing.
baby books are fun to make and fun to look at when said baby is older, and also a fun thing to show their potential partners when that time comes. seriously, who doesn't love a pic of a baby with cake smeared all over their face. and also naked baby pics, and awkward baby pics, and pics of babies in general.
AND, now that you've decided to get a baby carrier, you can actually hold you baby and fill out their book at the same time. magical.
also, this thing is just the prettiest.
